Mission

Dewey Avenue currently serves  nearly 450 students from Head Start through sixth grade. In order to more effectively reflect our redefined commitment to quality, empirically and evidence based instructional practices, Dewey Avenue School's Mission Statement has been revised to the following:

To achieve academic excellence, Dewey Avenue School will ensure all students have the opportunity to practice critical thinking, leadership, and problem solving skills in a safe and nurturing environment. Dewey will tend to the intellectual, personal, and social growth of our students by creating a varied, rich environment through the integration of technology, bilingual education, and visual arts programs.

All of our teaching staff is NCLB (No Child Left Behind) Compliant. Our teachers are assigned to classes based on their appropriate credentials and skills. We have sixteen general education teachers, a Speech and Language pathologist, a Resource Specialist Teacher, an Instructional Coach, an English Learner Interventionist, and three Head Start teachers all eager to serve the students in our community!
